Re: Australia - 1984 Celica, Few Questions

Yeah, I'll bet the 22RE Celcia was an improvement on an Excel! LOL!! In so many ways.
The XT is the best Australian Celica. It is somehow a mix of the US GT and GT-S. No one seems sure exactly what is what. We know the XT doesn't have the fender flares of the GTS but it does have some of the other GTS features. (Cruise Control for example)
Both the American models GT and GT-S are 2.4L 22R or RE engines. As far as I know Australia was the only place to get a 2.0L engine in some celicas.
It is funney that America was the only country in the world to get left hand drive. I have heard that once you get used to driving on the opposite side of the road LHD seems second-nature. But of course I was raised in LHD cars.
I have seen the C E L I C A pattern before. I do think this is factory. But again, I can't be sure.
The 82-85 celica was produced world wide. You will find them in America, Australia, England, France, and several other european countrys. As well as of course Japan. Every county has a slightly different setup. Just little things (mostly). But there seems to be know way to get a true comparison of all of the versions. You allmost never see any LHD car in the states and you allmost never see any RHD car in the outback. The same stand for just about every other country. I have heard of one or two being shipped from Japan to the US for some 'specialty' buyers but I have never seen one.
