Look at the bottom of the main pulley after you run your motor for a while.  See if oil is dripping from it once you shutdown.  Good indication it is front main seal. Also make sure your valve cover gasket is good.  It might be leaking from the top down.  But, since you said alternator is covered with spray, FRONT MAIN SEAL sounds like the problem.  Get a good manual to help you.
