Hey tim,

I have a component system as well but i mounted mines in the back. i flush mounted my tweeters and cut a hole in the side above the arm rest....u gotta cut some sheet metal though. the fronts i have a component system as well but i have 4" mids in the stock speaker location and surface mounts the tweets. i have an '85 GT-S liftback too. and it sounds great!!!!! I also have 2 12's JL's and an 10 band pioneer EQ. to maintain the good sound quality, with 3 kicker amps.1 for the components and 2 for my subs at 175 watts each for my the subs since i only have W00 JL's, but i have a 400 watt amp for my components. so u can get really good sound with this setup. the layout is good for the sound especially in the back.
