LOL, Steve is about right. I have droped ofer $15,000 USD into my car and it still isn't perfect and needs a painjob! But of course most of that is mods.
Realisticaly you can get good body piece from junkyards, parts cars and some from the toyota dealships. Even if everything is bad I cant see it costing more then $1000usd to replace or repair the body. Then a $500-$2000 paint job and the body is good-as-new!
The interior can be more difficult. Over the years I'm sure some plastic has or the dash has cracked. I'm lucky my dash has bee wonderfully treated it whole life and is still mint. It can be hard to find the plasic bits and pieces that are in good condition and the right color. I have found a lot of pieces for my car. Not much money for the interior just lots of searching and waiting.
Right now my body has a couple minor dings and needs a paint job, while the interior is perfect.
Don't bother with ABS. Even if you could pull it off, which mind you would be a hell of a lot of hassle. Your brakes probably wont work as good. Not to mention that most ABS systems out there are NOT designed for the 'spirited' driver. I am annoyed by the one in my 98 S-10.
Good luck, and keep us posted. Steve
