Indeed, the question of the century. If you pull it off right, have a good engine and don't push it to far a shot of NOS is perfectly acceptable on a stock engine.
Just make sure everything is okay. It would be a good idea to get an air/fuel ratio gauge and make sure that your car doesn't go lean at WOT before you install the system. You don't start to have problems until you send a shot of nitrous into a lean engine, then it blows up.
If I find a cheap NOS system (not bloody likly) I will pick it up in an instant.
