Basically you need an adjustable sporket.
It might run if .004 or less was shaved off, but it wont run good. The cam timing will be off. i.e. the valves will open too early or too late.
An adjustable cam sprokect can actualy be an improvement too. There is allways a little room for improvemet, and if you can master the black art of cam timing you will have better response.
You can get a good adjustable cam sproket from OldMage. He is having mine made right now. $75 get you either double or single row in the standard or 'cheater' design.
