Holy crap. this is funny.
Rocker arms attach to the rocker arm assembly. The rocker arm assembly on the 22r is held in place by the head bolts. The rocker arms are positioned between the cam and the valve springs, but they sit on top and actually touch the cam and the valve, the butt part of it. when the timing chain turns (cause it is a giant gear on the crankshaft and a bigger on on the camshaft) it turns the cam. The rocker rocks back and forh on the rocker assembly. When the cam lobe hits the rocker arm, it raises one side of it (cause there is a pipe down the middle of the assembly, like a giant see-saw), making it push down on the valve. This opens the valve allowint the gases to escape/ enter. it depends on the intake/ exaust side. Any more questions, send me an e-mail.
