On most engines especially the 22r there are markes for where TDC lies. The cam get sould have a dot. There are kits that make sure that everything stays aligned TDC but just eyeball it. The cam should slip into the gear. Before bolting down the cam, make sure this is pointing up. There is also a mark on the Crankshaft gear. If you pilled the timing cover off, this make it easier to push the tensioner back. Once this is done. I belive the distributor has a mark inside of it. I hope (most people dont) marked off a corrosponding line on the dist and the head. This make it easier to repostion the Dist. But remember to turn the point in the distributor to where the TDC is marked. Pick up some metal backed guides while the Front is off because those flimsy plastic ones will break and that isnt good. Re tourque the camshaft bolts in a inward outward pattern, then the head bolts the same way.
