I agree with Jason, the best thing to start with is the exhaust. Just find a good local shop. But I have had so many bad experiences with midus personel. So have several other I know. Another good starting place is the intake (See: How-To: Open Element Air Filter

There really isn't much of anything you can do to a car for free. Infact cutting coils is the only thing I can think of off hand. Oh the shotened shifter is free too unless you replace the bushings, which you should. How-To article comming soon.
