ok drain ur anti freeze completely,
remove ur valve cover, also ur dist. cap. make sure u hand crank the engine so the dist. rotor faces #1 piston. now with a zip tie. tie it on the cam gear& chain
make sure that when ur dist.rotor is at #1 look at the timing mark on the crank pulley. if u did it right the rotor is at #1 and the timing mark should be at 8deg btdc. if not just zero ur crank timing and make sure the dist rotor is facing #1.
ok after all that's done there are
10 head bolts, remove them in order! also replace them.now remove the dist from the shaft unplug the connectors and place it somewhere safe. to remove the cam gear place a scew drive into the cam gear plate and use a 19mm socket, it should slide off as soon as loosen it don't let it slack that's what the zip tie is for. it's gonna be a bitch if the tensioner locks then u have to remove the timing cover. so don't let it lock!. now rock the rocker arms off with a prybar. be careful as ur head bolts are out and there is only a 12mm head bolt that is holding ur head to the block.do u belive it says to torque this bolt at 108 hahahaha don't remove this. now start to lube up the new cam. it's almost time for it to lay on it's new bed. there are 3 cam bearings remove these they go in order and have markings that say where they go. don't mix them up,
now it may be a pain to take it off from the head, but get a mallet and a small flat heat and tap at the bearings to loosen it up. now take out old cam, and throw away! nah don't. if u lubed up the new cam place it now and place the cam bearings as well now spin the cam by hand if it rolls freely then ur ok but if it hesitates then check the cam bearings and also see if there was left over gunk on the cam. now place the rocker arm back in place. i hope u got new head bolts right? u must also put these back in order, torque them at i think 60 i did mines at 63 just to hold on for dear life, i used ARP head bolts. oh....make sure the cam marker faces at 12o' clock ur cam gear should be facing up to. now just reinstall everything like it was before. and get a green book it helps too. hope this helps
