Voltage gauge

I just got my celica back after five months out of the country. She sat out during a Michigan winter and she is lookin pretty sad. But she still runs ok... The problem i'm having is the voltage gauge on my dash is saying i'm putting out 18+ volts when i'm driving... Turning the lights on brings it down for a second and then it goes right back up... Autozone stuck their little machine on it and it said everything is running A-OK, so what am i supposed to do?? Any ideas what might be wrong?
