Re: 22R-E in a Supra??

I suppose you could. But it would be a downgrade. If the strait six still runs I would stay with that.

I think the motor mount locations are further forward on the Supra so the 22RE would sit away from the trannsmission. I suppose you could make some steel plates to have the engine sit further back from the motor mounts.

You will also have to swap the ECU and all of the engine wiring. I think you will need the ignition system too. And you will have to swap the gauge cluster because the tachomemter wont work with the 4cyl. The A/C might prove to be tricky, I am not sure if the hoses will all be the right length.

Basically swap most everything from the Celica engine compartment. Most of the other suff is trivial; mounting the power steering resovor, getting longer hoses to reach the radiator, etc.

I am sure there are a couple things I am forgetting but this should be most of it. So this swap is possible but you will have to deal with all of the regular problems involved in an engine swap.

One thing that would be very cool about this swap is that the engine weight will be allmost perfectly centered. That combined with the long wheel base would make the combo handle like a porche.

Hope this helps,
Steve
