GT-S is the next modle version up from GT. The idea being GT-Sport.
The GT-S got independent rear suspension while the GT got solid axel. The GT-S also got fender flares with the 14x7 aluminum alloy rims. The GT-S typicaly came with power windows/mirrors and cruise control too.
One odd thing to remember is that the 82 and 83 (& 84?) GT-S modles only got GT markings. So if you have a Celica with fender flares you have a GT-S, dispite what the steering wheel and hatch may say.
