LSD Differential for Solid Axels ?

I have a 84 Celica GT with solid rear axel. I need a new one because mine is howling.Heres my question.
Is there a LSD for solid axels or am I wasting my time searching the junkyard every 2 weeks ? Also what gear ratio would someone reccomend for faster acceleration ?
