I believe all cars have a full VIN code. I know anything sold in america is required to have a trackable Vehicle Identification Number. So yes Celicas do have VINs. I'll copy down a VIN decoding article pretty soon.
The 4 digit code I refer to on this site is just the differential. That way you can figure out what kind of gears you are running out back.
I did a web search and had little luck. But I did manage to find a pic of an 89 contertable. Basicaly the same car.
