On my 84 GT, in the trunk, under the rug there is a circular plate with 3 screws on it.. Take that out and you willhave EASY ascess to your fuel gauge float..

The problem I had with mine was it wouldnt tell me how LOW the tank was correctly.. but the little red light worked find so I depended on that till I got tired of it.. I took out the unit and it has a little metal piece that touches the a coil . All I had to do was bend this metal piece to make better contact with the coil. Let know if this works for youa also.
