Overheating

About 2 weeks ago my car was in the red and the coolant boiled over. So i replaced the thermostat on it. It hasn't been in the red but it runs hott. Like in the 3 quarter of the gauge. Is this normal? It gets hotter and hotter when i leave it idle. Please Help
