Will a supra diff bolt into an 83 Celica?
Short answer: Not really
Long answer: The toyota supra runs a 7.5" differential but the celica differentials are 6.7". Another issue is that the 7.5" has 8 bolts, while the 6.7" has 7. You can modify the crossmember and insert some shims. And you should use the supra CV shafts (axels). The celica shafts are a bit shorter. But since you want to convert to disc brakes there is a better option.
You should swap the whole rear end assembely from a supra.
Just four bolts hold it up. Well four main bolts. You will have to disconnect the parking brake, brake lines, shocks and driveshaft. But it really isn't that much work dropping it. But the rear suspension is very heavy. I manhandled mine but you really should bring a friend or two to help move it.
Remember to take the back half of the driveshaf and the parking brake cable.
Believe me it is a LOT easier to take the rear end than modify yours for a 7.5" diff. And a hell of alot easier than swaping the brake assemblys.
Sooner or later I will write a complete step-by-step how to article on this swap.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions just ask.
Steve
