Since you have an 82-84 GT-S than you have the 6.7inch R&P size.
The Supra 82-86 and 85 GT-S used the stronger 7.5inch R&P size.

The only difference between the IRS you have and the Supra IRS  is the differential carrier, they mount differently. So you need to swap out the whole IRS setup.
If you go under modifications in this site, you will find additional information on swapping out the IRSs.
Yes the Speedocable gears can be different, the gear  in the transmission way also be different, which requires the removeal of the rear section of the transmission and using that gear.
