Re: engine will not start 22r-ec engine

We got the rings in the right orientation. As for the honing, we were told we could use rough sandpaper. We had the car running after the head gasket replacement for a half hour. It was running rough at low idle speed and had a loud valve tapping noise at over 1500 rpm. We tried re-adjusting the valves to try to eliminate the tapping noise but it didn't start after that. So then we put the valves back to spec and now it still won't start. The engine fires and acts like it will start but then dies after two seconds.
