Re: driver side mirror

I should clarify the situation -- the Celica came with a manual remote control mirror via a manual knob.
I removed the circular hold -down ring that secures the knob inside the car to the door . It reveals a ball joint which seems to ride within a three prong fork . I can not figure out where the disconnect occurred . Can this be repaired without removing the door panel ?
