There is a way to check it. It's a matter of checking its continuity between the three terminals and seeing what it's doing. The other thing is to check it at specific throttle angles. There is no tool to do this however, you have to make one. It has to be the height of the throttle body and cut at I beleive 45* on the one side and 30* at the other. As far as a replacement source goes, Tomco makes one, it's over a hundred dollars though. I'm pretty sure I can get one from Toyota for about $60.00 though. Let me know if you need one.
