Invented a fix -- I had to remove the inside door panel . The interior control knob unit had become disengaged -- apparently , the 3 fingerlike protrusions from the door/ mirror unit represent the 3 ends of 3 separate wires that are secured to the back of the mirror . As the wires are pushed / pulled , the mirror also tilts appropriately . Well, the interior 3 ends are supposed to fit snugly into 3 recessed pockets that are cut out of the control knob universal ball-joint style fitting . The 3 ends were simply floating in space , not properly seated in their respective cutouts. To remedy , I used 3 hairlike thin wires to separately lasso each wire end / head . This allowed me to tug them toward me to get as much play as possible in the 3 wires . I also devised a compression type of jig by placing a washer over the each of the 2 ends of the control knob unit to permit me to compress the unit -- this was to provide a larger surface area for me to then pinch the 2 added washers between 2 small C-clamps and tighten the 2 small C-clamps all the way so as to compress the housing unit of the control knob . The compression provides just enough clearance for me to push each of the 3 wire ends into their respective cutouts of the ball- joint control knob. Then, I released the clamps, the compression resistant spring expanded and locked the wires into place . Remove washers ,reassemble the door panel .
