i know you all love celica's and think they are all great and all but i myself dislike them. i bought my celica for 2500 about 8 months ago. it had aprox. 169,000 miles on it. the main reason why i bought it was because i thought hey its got a very good paint job ,top is good, toyota's prob make it till 200k easy , maybe even 250k. i got it and drove it for about a month. thats when the whole car started falling to peices. it started to overheat, tranny sliped, every fluid the car has besides windshield wiper fluid leaked, i was embarrased to park at my new school because of leaving puddles of oil,trannyfluid,p/s fluid everywhere. i thought , old car high miles needs a lil work. i bought a new radiator (old one couldnt handle a pressure test). at the same time i put on new belts and hoses, thermostat. the car did better at temp but still overheated when driven above 60mph or in traffic. i took it to a mechanic and had him take apart the engine to replace the waterpump, realizing its ran off the timing belt i also thought it would be a good idea to replace it also. when my mechanic showed me my timing belt i realized how lucky i was, it wouldnt have lasted another 2500 miles. so now new timing belt and water pump. i also had him replace the rack and pinion , pressure hose while he had it. i was happy. it was hard to turn at first but got better after a week. it still overheated( this is a on going problem i never got to fix) . a week or so later i began to hear a strange noise while turning. i took it to my mechanic and he showed me my motor mount broken. i got another one and had him put it in a few days later. he told me i would be sacrificing the life of my cv joints driving it that way but i didnt have an alternative. i had him put it on and not 3 weeks later i noticed the cheap a$$ auto zone motor mount cracking at the rubber. it never broke but it really pissed me off since i paid 70-90 bucks for it. then the tranny started slipping . i didnt have the money to fix it so my grandpa took it to a guy his friend told him about. Shine transmitions (NEVER GO THERE). they told me my cv joints were going soon so i had them replace them along with the rear main seal since they had it in the air. they put a "low milage" tranny in it since my grandpa didnt want to spend exstra. it came up to 1600-1700 w/a horrible 90 day warenty. it started sliping on the 28th day. i took it back and they had to rebuild 70% of the transmition at their own expense. they blamed it on someone unpluging the OverDrive sensor, or some kinda bs like that. it took them 3 WHOLE WEEKS! to get me my car back. when i finaly got it back i asked if the 90 day warenty started over and i was shocked when they said no. they overfilled the tranny with fluid , i should have said something but didnt. it worked great . i drove it for about 2 months and the tranny got stuck in drive! i called and they said my warenty had expired!!! i turned the car off and pushed it in nuetral and did this for about 2-3 weeks when one night i put it in reverse and it worked! but then drive didnt work! pos.... i then had to have the car towed home where its still parked in the back of my driveway covered up. i start it every 3 days to keep it running, and run all electrical devices every week. im now trying to get rid of it. it currently had 180,000 miles on it and is stuck in reverse. if any deticated celica fan in houston, texas wants a celica with OVER 5,000 invested can reply to this message, i want to try to get 1500obo (i paid 2500 for the car and 5,000+ parts and labor= 8000-2000(overestimate)= do the math. i need this car gone soon! and will only accept cash! please get this thing out of my driveway!
