Derek: Thanks for the reply. For the most part it has been taken well care of, but throughout its life it had a blown head gasket that leaked coolant into the combustion chamber and therfore the exhaust. It was like this about 1 year before I got water in the oil and replaced the head and gasket. The other mishap was an O2 sensor that caused the check engine light to come on going up hills - since has been replaced. New cats are about ~$100 on the Web - I might just invest in one. I am not really performance oriented and am cheap so I will probably just go with the cat. One idea I had was to "punch-out" the old cat to see if it made a difference, but with that plan I might as well just replace it.
