dead battery, blown fuse?

Popped the lid on my fuse block after the heater fan quit working. Top inside of the lid looked scorched at where the EFI fuse would be, but the car started. Battery eventually slowly lost charge and now it's dead. It doesn't seem like there should be a connection between the two, but I'm no expert. Anyone have the same problem?
