    I had a similar problem on my 84 GTS, ~200K miles.  The check engine light would come on intermittently when going up a steep, long grade at high speed (> 70mph).  When I let off and let it "rest" for a moment the light would go out and stay out until I really pushed it again.  I finally broke down and bought a new O2 sensor ($50) and have not seen this problem since.  Good luck.
