Our cars are like this from the factory. If you lock the doors from the inside you have to hold the door handle in the open position while you close the door. Most 80's japanese cars had this feature. If you've got power locks and you lock the driver side from the outside it will lock both sides... If you unlock from the passenger side outside it will unlock both sides...
