The only vent I have taken out is the square one on the passenger side above the glovebox. I took down everything below the glovebox and including the glovebox as well as the emissions control box (82 Celica ST). Then I removed the black air duct running from the center vents to the passenger vent (there were two screws holding this up. There were three screws holding up the air vent. Removed them and then worked the vent backwards and out the dash. It was a bitch. I just did this a couple of weeks ago. The vent was broke so I needed to replace it. Toyota just discontinued those vents like last April. Luckily, I found one in a wrecked 83 Celica GT. I don't ever want to do that again.
