Some 85 Celica's used the 84 motor which is the same as 83. Check to see if the exhaust ports are the same. You do not want the key hole shaped ports. This head would then be from the new 85 motor and your 83 pistons will not allow you to use it. 83 has the dome top piston and the newer 85 is designed to be used with the flat top piston. Once the bad 83 head is off, you will see if they are exactly the same and if not, the differences will noticable.
