The Old Forums Will Close Forever 12/21/04

Well everyone, the time has come. With the new Celica-GTS.com web site fast in development, I have finally made the decision.

On December 21, 2001 at 12:39 pm EST the old forums will close forever. Exactly four years and almost 8,000 messages posted since they opened. I will code in a self-termination time and the system will cease function at 12:40:01 EST.

These forums have been a part of my site for so long it is sad for me to turn off the system. But, as most of you know the web site is going to get a major revamp and the new forums have just passed 50,000 messages.

There is allot of history in these forums. I hand coded the entire system in Perl when I was still an unknown name on the internet. And, for the first year or so I was the only "expert" there to answer questions. (I hope I got most of them right!)

Since that time I have held several professions in web design and programming, and even started my own very successful business. When I think back, I owe a significant amount of my experience to this web site and those forums.

I have drifted away from the Celica community because business keeps me so busy that I cant play expert and answer all of the questions that come across the table. And, of course I haven’t been able to drive my car for 2 years (sniff).

I would like to thank all of the people who have contributed to the old forums and the new forums over the last four years. Especially OldMage and Teranfirbt for taking the reins and being the resident experts for the community.

I will leave this news topic open for discussion for a week or so.
