Re: 1984 GT + Supra engine?

I wish it was that easy. There have been many people who wanted to put a supra front end on a celica (I would be one of them). But the supra, allthough it may look like a celica with a sleek front end, has a few inches longer wheel base. The front wheels are farther from the firewall than the celica.

The fenders are longer and the front brace (the peice that the radiator sits on) is several inches out. So you would have to to some serious frame and body work to get it to fit. It is by no means impossible but it would require considerable skill with a welder, or allot of money for someone who is.

Another consideration is that the supra engine is heavier. And wouldn't site very far back in a celica. This can make the car unstable. Think pencil with a rock taped to the head. It wouldn't corner well.

That is why when people ask me about this mod I generaly recommed cutting the firewall before ripping up the front end.

Notice the difference in length between the door and front wheels.
