It is more of a tedious job than a hard one. If its posi that adds a little more difficulty.
The front pinion seal uses a crush washer setup. It is very difficult to get this right. One foot pound to far and you have to start over.
I am not sure of the cost. Toyota charges an arm and a leg for anything. But I know you can still get the gears.
