I know I've been talking about it for about a year now, But now that the family car is here, I can finally focus on the celica becoming what I originally got it for. A track only car. This thread will be updated as I go along the process of building it. Any questions I have will go into other threads so this one can stay purely for the build process.
GOAL:
To have the car built for the silver state classic challenge in time for the September race. the march one is just too soon for me to accomplish financially.
Obviously it'll be an early form of the car, and will be upgraded between each race (6 months apart roughly) and will be modified to fit each new class as I move up the ladder.
The goals I'm setting myself for the car. It wont all get done by September but I'll prioritize it So I get the important parts done by then.
Interior:stock interior completely removed aside from heater

3 zone fire system

Roll bar mounted hydration ("bite and suck" style straws and a mounted cooler for Gatorade or something)
Suspension & steering:Rod end 4 links and pan hard
rod end control arms
custom wound springs and matched shocks
camber plates
custom 16" steel racing wheels
Strut tower bar
Manual rack
Engine:22re engine(for now)
All EFI removed
45mm side drafts
Port polish and larger valves

Exterior:Trim, markers, and passenger side door handle shaved (wind resistance)
Mirrors removed and plated over
bodywork and paint (bad paint does cause drag)
wind skirts (keep air from under the car)
mr2 spoiler center stanchion finished to meet bottom of trunk (finally)
decklid refinished so sheetmetal doesn't vibrate
LED taillights (making them myself)
headlights removed and covers left down in a fixed position (I'll have a normal set for racing that involves night driving)
Windows replaced with lighter weight safety glass (sooner or later)
BrakesMkI rear disc brakes

Front Big brake kit (hpfreaks has one)
And of curse the platform for all of this: A 1985 celica GT coupe
