Looks very nice. I like the flat black you used on the block. I painted my block silver then added a transparent blue finish cost on it... it looks good and matches the Valve cover but i think next time i rebuild a engine i'll paint the block flat black like you did... it looks nice.

Yeah it does look pretty cool, but that wasn't what I was going for. If you have any leaks, any at all you will see them on a flat black motor. You can't really get a good look at the block when it's in the car so the flat didn't really bother me. By the way the paint is very special,BBQ paint LOL I figured why not, it's flat, resists really high heat and prevents rust.  Any input on the valve cover?

My valve cover came out very nice... if i had to do it again i think i'd do a couple coats of blue... but it looks great and doesnt react with the heat at all.

Can you show me a picture of it. I just checked with Lc, they just started selling chrome valve covers for the 22 series, $150.00  That's over half of what I paid for my rebuild kit.

Thanks. I worked hard on it actually... and i did it during the winter in about 30 degree weather... wasnt always fun...

i finally started putting mine back together today
bright red block
bright orange oil pan, water pump, and brackets
purple metallic valve cover and water and egr lines
and i got metallic red for the upper plenum after seeing that celica on here

under hood fire, here i come  :(  :blink:  :unsure:

my #2 rod bearing wuz all worn too
others weren't too bad with 170+K miles
this time i'll keep the oil clean
for 500 K e z with nitrous  :ph34r:  :rolleyes:  :huh:

i couldn't stand all that toyota black everything
i even painted my front axle tubes royal blue
and a couple water hoses
 :blink:  :lol:
