The 18 inch wheel I just ordered weighs 21.75 lbs and I was just curious about how close that weight is to the factory gts rim I originally had on there. Thanks in advance.

They're pretty light, I would imagine that wheel and tire both weigh about as much as those wheels...

21.75 LBS?!?
I do hope that is shipping weight, with box, staples, lug nuts and center caps! Is that for all four? DAMN - that's heavy!

If Zoomy would figure out which wheels she wants where, I could dismount some and weigh them and let everyone know, if there is an interest. Besides, now that I have the big compressor going, I can finally try out the tire machine!

MKIII sawblades weigh about that much too. MKIV wheels weigh about 23lbs <_<

No idea what the stock celica rims weigh. I would guess <15lbs

I believe I read on a table once that they're about 14lbs per wheel.

the weight is 25 lbs shipped. that was also for one wheel, w/o tire. I imagine that the 18 inch tire weighs alittle less than the 14 due to less rubber. lightest 18 I have seen was approx. 18 lbs. so I don't feel like they are really that heavy.

FYI True, but metal weighs more than rubber.

Again you WON'T save weight with the tires. If you look on tirerack a 225/35R18 (which is a little smaller) weight 21-22 lb while a 225/60R14 weight around 23lb.

And I did check on a scale and it was around 15lb for the stock wheel. I have 16 inch wheels that weight 22 pounds (according to the manufacturer) and I'm pretty sure it was slowing me down at the track. I did way better time with my 14 inch's but that was latter in the day so the track was probably warmer and I had more traction. Best trap speed with the 16 inch wheels: 80.973, with the 14's: 82.951.

So I am basically adding 5 - 6lbs per wheel.OK. I can deal with a 2mph trade off in the 1/4 mi. Thanks.

thats why im gonna stick with 15" rims as the max size id go since it shouldnt be much of a weight difference than what my 14" steelies are right now.

im just lookin to get wider wheels not too wide as to stick out but wide enough for ground coverage. if i cant find decent gts rims.

oh btw are the 15" supra rims 5 or 4 lug?

4-lug. but not as wide as the 14s. come on :o you gonna let a few mph in the 1/4 keep you from going bigger? you must race everyday ? If not , u can always switch back when u go to the track

I bet it was too. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes, but I saw a MBW Z4 first dyno with stock wheels, then dyno with a set of lightweight racing wheels. I' not sure of the exact weight difference, but the lightweight wheels had HUGE tires on them, so I would guess maybe 5-8lbs each. Anyways, it made 15 more horsepower to the wheels. FIFTEEN TO THE WHEELS, only by changing the wheels.

That made my mind up right then and there that I needed to ditch my 23lb boat anchor wheels.

I am no longer a racer. I want my car Fast, but I am willing to give up a few horses for looks and quietness. I am going back to a quiet muffler which I am sure will hide a couple horses and these rims which will hide even more. I will eventually get that exhaust cut out switch for it and If I decide to race it, I still have my factory rims. 205hp down to 185 hp wouldn't matter too much knowing it is possible to get it back. First I gotta get to 200hp I'm at 160 w/18s and adapters and apex fart can so... not too much further to go.

got my rim Friday. Wasn't able to open til sunday. Tried it on the front to see if I can get a whole set of the 18 x 9s. the rim hit the strut tower . found out though, with a 1/4 inch spacer it will fit perfect. comes out almost to the edge of the flare. but I heard the spacers cause vibrations in steering and also I would need toget longer studs. So, I will probably get the 18 x 8s for the front instead and try that next.
