Is a 7MGE be a good swap also ? or wil all the added weight use up the extra power and isnt it much heavier than a 22R*  ?
Just wondering.  (Maybe dumb questions but I want crazy tourqe /acceleration in my car and so if im going to work on it, I dont want to regret doing something that isnt going to give me the best results.)

I almost went that route with a 7MGTE (for sale) but changed my mind. The straight 6 will have good power, due to the increase in torque, but I think the added weight on the front will be a negative.  I have decided to go the 4 cylinder route, more looking towards a 3SGE or 3SGTE, although Dynamic73 is working on me to go the 22RTE :)

Our cars weigth about 2400lbs(st) up to about 2800lbs(GT-S) this is crub weight not the lfully loaded weight. plus driver of course. The weight basis is 55/45 I think, my door says 50/50, some ppl have weighted their cars, but not me :(

a 7MGTE has 240+ HP and more tourqe too. They dont weigh THAT much more than a 22RE but they are heavy. You'd want steel break lines and maybe cross drilled/slotted rotrs with good pads too. after that then you should have a hella fast celica. a celica that'd be able to waste a turbo'd 1988 supra.  ;)

Sun roof, flares, seats and power equipment would probably add up to about 250lbs.  Also keep in mind the wider tires

true celica owners won't swap in other engines for performance..  people should build on what they already have.  keep the celica configurations and make it wild with mods.  anybody with alot of money could put a V8 in neon, but then it isn't a neon anymore.

The Celica GT Coupe weighed 2471lbs
                GTS Coupe            2610lbs
                GT Hatch               2487lbs
                GTS Hatch             2641lbs

Award for lightest Celica is the ST at 2451lbs
Award for the porkiest Celica goes to the GTS Hatch, the Convertible weights the same as the GTS Coupe, bet you thought it would be the Convertible :)

Keep in mind the IRS, that weighs alot too along with all the power options, seats, fender flares sunroof, etc.

Ummm... I'm a true celica owner and i'd swap a 3TGTE into my celica in 1 freakin second, no questions asked. And i'd still be a true Celica owner and i'd still be driving a celica.

The engine in a car isnt what makes the car. What if the factory changes the engine, does that mean its a different car now? What about over seas models with different motor options? Or what if you swaped a engine that japan offered as a stock option into your celica? if japan had it in a celica then i'd say its still a celica.

Just because you swap a inline 6 into a celica doesnt mean its anything else... i dont know where you got that crazy idea.
