Exactly, There are a ton of engine options for our celicas over seas... And they are all considered celicas. And if i swaped one of those engines into my celica it'd still be a celica. Even if i swaped a retarded V8 into my celica it'd still be a celica.

true celica owners won't swap in other engines for performance..  people should build on what they already have.  keep the celica configurations and make it wild with mods.  anybody with alot of money could put a V8 in neon, but then it isn't a neon anymore.
Ummm... I'm a true celica owner and i'd swap a 3TGTE into my celica in 1 freakin second, no questions asked. And i'd still be a true Celica owner and i'd still be driving a celica.

The engine in a car isnt what makes the car. What if the factory changes the engine, does that mean its a different car now? What about over seas models with different motor options? Or what if you swaped a engine that japan offered as a stock option into your celica? if japan had it in a celica then i'd say its still a celica.

Just because you swap a inline 6 into a celica doesnt mean its anything else... i dont know where you got that crazy idea.
the engine doesn't make the car??? what makes a car?
(factory engine) means that it is OEM..  if the engine comes with the car on a different option then that still means its within the celica origonal configurations.. i can't understand how you can't figure out that common sense.. but i guess we all have our weaknesses..  why not just buy the whole car with the engine you want??

I guess we all differ in regards to this topic.  I personally see nothing wrong with changing engines, once it is the same manufacturer, others have no problem with putting a rotary in a Toyota. Others will put a 350 Chevy in a Supra.

I see your point, being that if you change the engine, you are basically changing the soul of the car, thereby changing the car itself. Therefore since it never came that way, it could not be a Celica.

I guess in a way I agree with you, but will cross the grey line and go with looking at the availability of the 3TGTE as an optional engine since it was available in a Celica, just not this market.

As to your remark about buying it with the engine we want in our cars, that would be Euphoria  ;)

Well since were on the subject.. I have an 84 Supra and the engine is shot.. I was thinking of Putting a 97 Supra Engine in it..
In regards to changing the car "too much"  you think this would
be too much of a stretch or acceptable since its just the next
generation.

Yeah, I don't think there is anything wrong with swaping another motor in, even if it is from a diff. manufacturer.  Thats just me, the only thing I am against is body parts from one manufacturer to another.  Silvia headlights on a prelude, skyline tail lights on an accord, ect.  They are crap!

I'd go out and buy a 4th Gen supra if i had $25,000. Or i could buy a $2,500 MKII and swap a 2JZ into to it and kick any 4th gen supra's ass.

I'd buy a TA63 Turbo 3rd gen celica from japan too but its impossible to find a good one and importing it would be a &$#*% because the engine was never in the states. Or i could buy a 3TGTE and swap it into my 3rd gen celica and make it a turbo'd 3rd gen.

And i dont personally like the looks and weight of the 3rd gen Supras... so i might as well buy a 7MGTE and swap it into a MKII Supra... for a fraction of the cost... not to mention cheaper insurance.

My point is, I either dont like the cars that have the engines i want or i cant afford the cars that have the engine i want so why not put the engine you want into a car you love? most of the time it makes it faster than the car the orignally comes with it.

And i agree about how gay it is when idiots swap other companies parts onto their cars... Like Supra tail lights or Skyline tailights... and retarded honda front clips. That in my opinion is what makes a car not a car anymore and more of a monstrocity.

If its cheaper and you're able to get more performance out of a engine that can swap into your celica easy why dont you do that? its still a celica! the engine isnt what they name the car after!
