Block and head are identical. Intake and the rest should be very similar. Where there's an advantage is the weight of the turbo's and piping. There's easely 70lb of extra stuff plus piping and intercooler. My buddy told me the front of his supra raised a bit when he went single.

2JZ N/A instead of turbo doesn't make sense in term of weight budget. The power gap between those too is just too big (a 2JZ with simple BPU and some tuning will get 400whp on the stock twin and 440cc injectors). Where it would make sense is instead of a 7M-GTE as the 2JZ N/A can be found cheap, is a lot more reliable and make about the same power in it stock form (and when you get more time and money you can go N/A T with a single turbo and piggy back).

Hmm... looks like we need more research into the engine weights and stuff. Cuz now we have lots of different numbers and it's only going to get confusing if no one updates the first post. Plus you gave links to other forums and they said the 1JZGTE with no a/c or p/s, but with flywheel/clutch was 495lbs, but you put it as 450lbs.

btw, the 2JZ link you posted doesn't work.

Hmm... looks like we need more research into the engine weights and stuff. Cuz now we have lots of different numbers and ...

Trhust me I did. Where it gets confusing is because nobody weight their engine with the same stuff on it.

it's only going to get confusing if no one updates the first post.

I've tryed to do it, but since we went on an other forum base, it wont allow me to exceed 10000 caracters. Either I remove engine from the list and tell everyone to click on the link for other engine or I leave it as it is. I've asked Derek about it and there was nothing he could do. I could always hit Steve for that.

Plus you gave links to other forums and they said the 1JZGTE with no a/c or p/s, but with flywheel/clutch was 495lbs, but you put it as 450lbs.

I approximated 45lb for flywheel and clutch. I wanted to compare apples with apples so everyone can see the difference. The way I did it there's no diference between N/A, Twin or single turbo or if you have a lightened flywheel. Then when you get everything back together you can put it into perspective.

After that you can start comparing those engine togeter if you go N/A, turbo, or whatever. As an exemple, a stock running 1UZ and w58 weight 580lb a TT 1JZ with a R154 700lb a 7M-GTE with a R154 650lb and a running 22RE with everything and a w58 is around 500lb.

btw, the 2JZ link you posted doesn't work.

IT's fixed now thank for pointing that up

but I think it's a bit miss leading and I agree there are varying numbers due to what is weighed with it and I think it's better to list parenthesis was was included and not included. Cuz I know sometimes they're even weighed dry and wet so there is variation. But like the link you gave for one of them it listed what was included and not included, I think that is pretty useful. Because say what if someone compares the weight of a turbo motor without any turbo parts to a N/A motor and think that oh the turbo motor is the same weight/lighter than the N/A motor and then says blah blah about something. You know what I mean.

sucks you can't change the first post...  :(

if he can he REALLY should, cuz a lot of people who look at this thread will probably only look at the first post and take that as the info.

actually I dont think he can... he had mentioned a character limit... sounds like the new limit per post is lower than the old forums was... so he cant really change anything without having to delete enough to be under the new limit...

don't know, wished I weighed it before hand. Lots of people say the 2GR-FSE is around 380~400, i'd like to know how much the tranny weighs since I'm sure it being a 6spd auto it's heavy...

I talked with a guy that is selling the 6spd tranny, said it was around 300lbs, so engine+tranny should be around 700lbs.
