Is Celica-gts.com Rwd Only?

Just my .02, i would like it to remain the same. We can be nice enough to refer lost searchers of info to other sites. That's what they (other sites) are there for. I just see other sites that are convoluted with info that is either inaccurate, or buried so deep in a lost post that it I feel like I need the Enigma Cipher to find anything. For the size we are here, we got a good thing going. My Mazda site is broken down into about (literally) 20 different categories, I hate trying to find legitimate info there. Here we actually have moderators who monitor and tidy up and keep things organized. I got no problem with anybody joining, but I come to this site for info, RWD suspension info, "r" series engine info (unless i go to the off topic) etc. Not being mean, but i'm sure if somebody wanted to join a 350z site with a 280, and was just there to get help and info with their car, they'd be kindly explained that the site is for newer Z's and info would be sparse, same for somebody with a Stingray joining a newer ZO6/ ZR1 site.

you guys  pretty made the points i wanted to make already.
we have a good thing goin here and if the FWD guys come in and start to get too comfortable we'll turn into another grounp of nasty uncarign unhelpfull dicks.
if you check out other sites suck as celicatech.com  they are always real quick to be assholes instead of just answering teh questions you ask such as...

hey new to the comunity and was just wondering if anyone knows a good reputible place in my area where i can get custom coil springs wound for my 83 GT.

a very genaral qusetion that could be asked of ANY car that has coil springs.

the responce i got...

dude you;re waistign yoru time here, we don;t deal w/ POS cars that old.

i got no other responces at all whitch tells me that everyoen there felt teh same way about it.

so tell me honestly was there any need for that at all?
those are th types of issues i find myself dealign w/ on other sites, i stoped postign there cbz of it, and supraforums.com is just as bad. every one that has to be an asshole about everything.
i asked if anyone that ahs actaully done the swap tell me if teh lexus air flow meter was a difect plug in or if i had to change the pinouts or splice wires, and i was told that if i'm that stupid that i cont; figure it out by myself then i shouldn't be tryign to do that swap.  and other people chimed in w/ dumb comments as well. i aasked agina well have any of you that have just left unnessasary remarks actually doen the swap adn i got no responces just more beign called stupid, so i posted pictuers of the 7M swap adn said  %#!& you guys i have a 7M-GTE crammed into my *% celica and i dont; see anyoen else that's pulled that off!!!  so dont; try to call me stupid seeign as how i dont; see anyone else that just posted to me w/ any kinda of swaps or mods at all.

that's the type of shit that keeps me from going there. dp we want to have those ass hoel here treating oru people that way? and classic celcia has teh same type of additude twards us w/our new fangles fuel injection.  yuo can't seem to win.
not that classic celica is that bcz it's not but they dont see us as beign on thier level, bcz they dont; see us as classics for some reason.  most forums are very narrow minded when it comes to other cars.

Now THAT is what we don't need. That is way overboard, and I don't know where the GT4 comes into it either.

And it's not that I don't like FWD (or AWD) Celicas, it's just that for Toyota to cram FWD down Celica lovers throats is like comparing my '66 Chevelle Malibu (RWD, 327 V8 - also available with a big block - 396 - 454 in '70) to an '04 Malibu (FWD, transverse mtd 4 cyl or V6), for example.

I think there is too much emphasis being placed on this topic.  A Celica GTS is nothing more than a Celica GTS.  The statement is saying the forum is open to membership of the newer cars, it is not saying that they will be tailored to suit them.  People are coming here to fellowship with people that have the same interests as them.  Some of us dont even own Toyotas anymore, but still come here to talk and help others.

If a ricer, or die hard fwd owner comes here they will see it isnt their sort of crowd and soon leave.  Dont forget that we have members in here who are into some of the newer motorsports.  The job is for the mods to make sure the basic foundation of the site is not erroded by any member.

I would say Teran and myself are two of the oldest members, contributing since the original forum.  We have seen atleast 3 forums, and one chat room.  We have seen trouble makers, and helpful people come through here.

I was very upset to see the latest drama in here and would recommend all to be as courteous as possible and try as hard as possible to ignore the ignorant and arrogant.  Keep in mind with more members it gets harder to control, and it will be the responsibility of us all to give the mods as much support as possible.

I thought that was the purpose of the off topic section: to try
to help/discuss
topics/problems other than rwd celica issues/developments.
I feel the site should be dedicated to rwd celicas but, be helpful and accept
members/questions from other vehicles.
Maybe a fwd section can be added, along with the turbo section.
:P

I found these forums while looking for help for my 85 Celica GT-S. I do remember posting of the first site and how hard it was to keep track of the post once they got so large :D
But back when I found the first forums, I knew nothing about the Celica (compared to now) only that my brother had had two and that I loved the cars. Because of the people (some that are still here) that changed and fell in love with the 3rd Gen Celicas', to me these car are the cat meow!
These forums were the only forums that I found that had people on the them all the time. Most of the forums I have been to IF they even had a section for 3rd Gen or more often the RWD Celicas' there was never anybody there.

When I first found the original I thought it we only for the 83 Celica GT-S, I soon learned different, that it was for the 3rd Gen Celica But then we started get alot of 2nd Gen Celica and I was not sure I liked that very much. Then I started to get to know some of these 2nd Gen owner (through their post) and found out that it was so bad having them around, it was in fact fun and different in a good.

Now to having this forum as it is now becoming a all Gen Celica forum would not be all the good. I use to (many years ago) be a member to (I think) Celica.net?, it had a section for each gen Celica, but on the 7th, 6th and 5th, had much traffic and they did not like it you posted in "there" section of the forums. Like these forums, 1) because they are (or so I thought) deacaded to the 3rd Gen which is one of my passions 2) because of the family/community/fellowship that goes one here. 3) This forum has never tolerated some of the grap that goes on in other forums and when people show up that cause trouble, they get kicked out.

I remember when I moved back down to North Carolina and went to GTdragster (? he 's in the navy and no longer owns his Celica) house to buy some parts, I had not worries about him doing me any harm and what not as I had met him here on the forums. There are people I work with everyday that I do not trust the same.

If a FWD/AWD person comes here looking for help, I will gladly him/her as much as I can, but will let them know that the vast majority of people here own either 2nd or 3rd gen Celicas and we have very little knowledge about the newer Celicas and that they should try another forum for more help.

Yes opening THESE forums to the FWD Celica would dilute the community we have here, but a total different section or even a sister site for all 4th gen and newer Celicas would be good.

Though My input should not much matter as I have decided to sell my Celica, but I still care (and that is one of the hardest things to let go). I love the 3rd Gen Celicas and this site, I have not post as much and trolled (I think that's the right term) to much. There is (at least to me) a sense of community and that should not change.
