1989 4X4  LC Engineering 2.6 Stroker,12:1Comp,T-S Gapless Rings,ProStage2 Head,EFI ProCam,BigBore Throt,K&N Filter,LC Eng Header,Borla Exhaust,Nology HotWires,Black Magic Fan,Hi Flow Injectors,TRD EPROM MOD,Duel Timing Chain,167BHP@flywheel

dunno how much is gotten with that high compression
which requires higher octane to run
he's got a lot of stuff that equals little if any actual power
but this gives an idea of the possibilities
mostly a matter of cam and valve size...
or shoud i say almost entirely?
 :o  :o

ever looked closely at the throttle body?
quite a taper to that booger...
the throttle is MUCH smaller than the intake opening
(ram air)

no lie
he said $8grand in motor
shocking
but he wurks in developement of a motor that has no valves, direct injection and is gonna be shown to ford soon
knows his stuff
i guess he went with the stage 2 head and conservative cam cuz it's a 4x4
i considered stoking
minimum of $1,200 to do that and wait for custom pistons to be made
only get 200 somethin cc's
i figured for the cost, i couldn't afford it for so little gain
that is a nice mod peepl say who've dun it of course
power across rpm band
but not a hell of a lot i'm thinking

wut i'd like to see is pics of lce's stage 5 head
how do they get valves that big in there???
dun they crowd or hit the chamber circumference???
you can only get so close before that becomes a restriction and defeats the whole purpose of valve increase...
seen pics of theirs and others porting
not much to it
probly most newer heads dun allow much porting???
gawd, mine's an 88
ancient stuff

Yeah I have a customer that designed an engine that uses less fuel and gives more power, by using ports, but none of the big three want the engine.  They said it would cut too many jobs :) Since when do they care. I think in tests it used 75% less fuel, than a comparative sized engine, and made 600lbft of torque

167 flywheel hp for $8000...  that just discourages me from tuning my celica.  my buddy just bought a 1990 turbo talon for C$3000 and its got 190hp.  this makes me wonder about other make and model options.  i'd like to think he made some mistakes with his setup cuz i hope those results don't happen to me.  With about $8000 in mods i hope im in the 12sec 1/4mile range.

What is his torque figures, a 4-cyl that large would have to produce a hella of a torque band. Plus he is not using a a Stand alone EMS, a like SDS EM-4F or a Electromotive system would give him nearly 20HP.
I thought there already was a no valve engine, the Rotary

well, he only has a stage 2 lce head and a rather mild cam, isn't it?
www.lcengineering.com
you gotta hav a cam that lopes to make da hp man...
and only a bored stock throttle intake
i would think you could get that hp with the slightly larger valves i hav and the right cam and maybe a new intake

this red metallic paint is blood red
gawd
hope it duzn't end up pissing me off

I wouldnt be surprised if an aftermarket standalone unit will add alot more than the 20hp. From the sort of mods listed I would think the engine would have been alot closer to 200hp, once tuned properly. Since the OEM ECU has problems reading increased airflow, it would be hard for it to read increased cam duration plus .2 liters more of displacement (air intake)
