3.a piece of the road, take if off with your oversized screwdriver and a little tap

4. wheel weights, insert the screwdriver from the tire side, slide it below the bottom of the weight use the tire as a fulcrum and pop those guys off

5. center cap, to remove place handle of screwdriver to the back of the cap, a little tap with the mallet and off she goes, do it in the grass so you don't have to worry about scratching the cap

6. Clean: Sonax wheel cleaner, sprays on green turns purple when it is working can be left on up to 20 minutes in the shade. recommended 3-5 minutes, use your nylon brushes and scrub them really well!!

7. Rinse: rinse them off with a hard stream of water. Backs too!!

8. we have our work cut out for us

9. Prep: dry it off

10.Sand: 150 grit dry sand

your almost there when it looks like this, those water like spots should be almost gone, they will show in the end if you don't get um now

This look good

11. Curb Rash: Dremel tool with 160 grit wheel accessory. Take it easy with this, feather out your rash and try to make the surrounding area the same.

this looks good

12.Since you have your dremel out you can use the little metal brush tool and get those cracks. You don't have to get them shiney just get all the junk out of there and rough um up

13. Hitting the rest: use the larger grade steel wool and scrub all the "holes" where you wanna paint

14.150 grit'd and steel wooled

15. Sand: 320 grit wet sand

this looks good

16. Sand: 1000 grit wet sand

this looks good

17. Sand: 2000 grit wet sand

when you get here dip!!, dip often

this looks good

18. polish: Mother Mag polish, applied with a TC applicator, I found a back and forth motion to be quite sufficient. Polish till the cleaner turns black and you have a little reflection.

should look something like this

Reflection of Sonax wheel cleaner lable

19. Mask if off

this looks good

20.Primer: VERY VERY VERY VERY LIGHT COATS, IT WON'T STICK IF YOU DON'T!!!!!
(i would assume it has to do with the polarity of the aluminum and the paint, it just balls up and wants to fall off if you don't do light coats)

sorry no pics of the painting process, just let the primer sit for about 2 hours, then hit it with the Rustoleum of your choice. make sure to roll the wheel as you prime/paining so you get all the surfaces evenly

21. paint: use your pony hair paint brush and some automotive black paint and pin stripe those grooves in the wheel

22. Polish: go back over your wheel one you have let the paint get nearly dry, also polish that center cap that you forgot about
