nope
that screen is thin
cat is the least restrictive part of the xhaust on a 22re according to my seat of the pants type testing
but they make high flow ones
which will give same performance as no cat
seen em for $80, cheapest
downey off road sells one and says
'better flow than a straight pipe'
that IS physically possible

I was wondering, is it ok to just remove the cat and run it to the muffler, I was told that if its got a cat, you need to keep one on, because it will be harmful on the engine without it
To my knowledge, the cat is for SMOG purposes only.
Just keep in mind, if you ever get inspected you will get into alot of trouble. Thats why most people keep the cat but just bore it out

I was thinking about getting one of those bypass valves. You weld it in before your cat and you can welp a pipe that bypasses the cat then you've got a lever you can pull and make it either run through your cat or bypass your cat and whole exhaust.
What you are looking for is called a test pipe. They are really cheap if you look in the right place..

Yeah I was thinking about gutting my cat once the Celi gets too old to have to run emissions. But that is about another 5 years so I can not do it anytime soon...

Pacesetter header w/custom 2.5" straight exhaust. Open air intake filter w/3" piping to TB. 65mm TB & ported AFM.
4:10 rear w/disk brakes from Supra. BillyM shifter bushing kit. Swapped most interior over to black. T3 camber plates.
935 Budget Coilover kit. KYB AGX struts. Eibach Sport rear supra springs. T3 Needle bearing upper perches.

Yeah, but hollowing out your cat, or getting a dummy cat would squeeze you buy nosey cops.  A test pipe just replaces the cat with piping, correct?

Yes, a test pipe is just a normal pipe you bolt in place of your cat. They sell them on ebay all the time for the AE86.

Thought so, still better to use a dummy cat if you are afraid of the law.
