Paint's coming along nicely.  The first 2 coats were trash, mostly because I tried applying them in direct sunlight when it was in the high 80's/low 90's outside, so it flashed over quickly and didn't level out much at all  :heh:
3rd coat was much better after a bit of sanding and thinning it with mineral spirits - the learning curve isn't too steep, I think I have it figured out fairly well at this point.  Interlux recommends their specific thinner, but says you can use mineral spirits (their 333 thinner, which isn't available in all states, is pretty much a 50/50 mix of naphtha and kerosene).  I think 1 more light sanding with 400 grit to get rid of some of the deeper sanding marks and a final coat will have it done

not a bad reflection for using a foam roller outside with a light breeze and pine trees nearby ;)

there's a minimal amount of orange peel, I've seen worse on cars that came from reputable body shops.

. . . and, today, I did a bit of horse trading and got a pair of new (used) seats  :)
They were used in California for a short time at a driving school before the school decided to change seat brands, so they don't have much wear and the FIA certification (not that it matters) doesn't expire until late 2019
now I need to get the rear 1/2 cage built, so I can install the 5 point harnesses

Done.  I think it's missing something yet, but I'm going to reinstall all the trim and live with it for a while to see if any other ideas pop out at me

Either needs more gray in front to tie the gray in back or some sort of primary color added as a third. Black graphics would help a lot in the grey areas.

done with the paint (for now) and it looks much better with all the trim on.
I'll get better pictures next weekend when I finally get it back out to a RallyX
week and a half is good enough for paint to cure, right?  :heh:
