If you are sticking with your stock body I would go with the 22RTE or the 3TGTE for ease of installation. For all out power I would go with the 3SGTE

Why not the B16?
I'm using the current parts for mold for the fiberglass so it'll look the same but be much lighter. Still going to use lexan as well. ;)

Well at 2600lb and 250 hp you could do about 13.5 on the quarter, and no matter what people may say, that is pretty quick.

Thats what a stock celica Gt weighs isn't it    How much weight will I save by using a fiberglass body and lexans?

Anyway back to the engine which would be the least expensive of them to get approx 400-500 hp?

I would say the 3SGTE, but keep in mind that 500hp costs alot of money

Power costs money, plain and simple.  If I had a limitless amount of money or no bills to pay, I would get a 1jz or 2jz.

I think I got screwed on my panda paint job...

problem with those, is that they will upset the handling of the car. I drove a 1985 Celica Supra (JDM) and found that it was nowhere nearly as nimble as my Celica. I thought of putting a 7MGTE in my present Celica, but changed my mind due to the added weight. The biggest advantage would be the added torque, then the lovely sound of a 6cyl

Weight is not so much an issue anymore, there are plenty of people auto-xing and drifting smaller cars with bigger engines such as the 240 w/ rb.

Yeah but the RB they use is about the same size as the engine it replaces. The Celica's handling comes from it superb weight distribution, and putting that 3.0 up front will make the car very front end biased

How much more does a twin turbo 1jz-gte weigh than a 22re?
