IMO the downfall of these supras were the rims. It looks so hideous that nobody ever wanted to do anything with the car. However, from the few pictures out there where someone took the time to put different rims on, I think it completely changes the looks of it. Then they look awesome. Someone should get this and put a 2jz in it.

Personally the part I find the worst on these and the 2nd gen Celica hatch is the fat B-pillars. It's like Toyota got done designing the car, then someone said, "wait, it's gotta be 4 inches longer". So the designers stretched the car, but manufacturing said "we've already started making the rear windows". So some manager went "I know how to fix this, we'll just slap a plastic cover over the extension, throw some chrome trim around it and noone will notice!" Then when someone pointed out that they looked gaudy and out of place, the manager said "alright, we'll make another cover to slap on the hatch so it doesn't look so out of place."

I think overall looking like a cockroach is what killed it. Just imagine everything else at the time that competed with it in the late 70's. The coupes of that time look better IMO.
