Careful credit card use is beneficial. Most cards have a cashback/points feature (not much, but better than nothing). If you keep your balance at zero month to month, you don't pay any interest, but still get the rewards. Your credit score also benefits from having constant action on your card. Key being that you have to keep your balance at zero month to month, otherwise you get hosed.

If it gets screwed up as much as celica trim does, it's probably worth something to the right buyer if its in good shape
