always keep trim, it might not move right away but people are always looking for it

I agree with that. I had a couple parts cars and I wound up needing trim but never bothered salvaging it when parting it out. Argh!

My day turned to crap. This morning was just fine, played around on my new tablet, had breakfast as a family, and took the kids to the children museum. My first time there. 12pm I had to go to my grandparents rental to look at a sink not draining. 5 hours later, I've stuck a 25ft snake in it, broke one pipe and it still doesn't drain. Lunch and dinner paid for by the grandparents. Plumber gets called. I had so many better things to be doing instead of this.

Man, plumbing always sucks. I ripped out all my old galvanized/pvc/copper supply lines this summer and replaced everything with PEX, with ball valve shutoffs and rubber supply lines to all the faucets, and insulation on all the PEX. I also had to do a bunch of work on the drain lines, the ABS pipes had been cut apart and spliced back together not quite level so many times there were low spots where I was getting standing water that would freeze and block the pipe. It was quite a bit of work and I figure it was about $300 all totaled, with the majority of that being the tool for the crimp rings and all the fittings and valves, but it was well worth it. So far this winter the supply lines have frozen twice, which was caused by a draft through a wall I'd been working on and hadn't put back together, and both times clearing the freeze took under 20 minutes with the good old hair dryer, where before it could have taken hours to warm up that old steel. The drains I've had no problems with.

I spent most of today sleeping, I've had a damn long week. My division of the company I work for contracts printer repair and supplies, and a new client wanted backup toners for all their printers. So someone ordered toners for all their printers, and had them shipped with no indication of which printers they go to or where on the clients campus they were supposed to go. We're not talking just a few toners either, we're talking something like 200 printers, of which about 25% are color (4 toners instead of 1), spread out through dozens of different buildings. So I've been down there all week trying to sort out this mess, get toners to where they need to go, aside from running my usual service calls.

Oh, and Thursday was my 30th birthday, I started it by waking up at 6:30 with my back killing me. I took some ibuprofen and went to email my boss that I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to work today, but at the least I'd be running late. Then I found out my internet was acting up, the computer could see the wifi, but it wouldn't connect. I'd had problems with it doing this before, after windows update installed a new driver, so I stared troubleshooting it, and fell back asleep waiting for the computer to reboot. I woke up at 10:30 when my boss called to ask where the heck I was. I told her I was extremely sorry and that I was hitting the road, before I remembered that the internet was down, and I still needed to get online to get my service calls. So I messed around with the computer some more, and found out the problem was actually my router - which I'd just replaced on Monday after my old one died. The rest of the day didn't go much better, although the birthday party after work was fun, I kicked my brother's ass at pool.

Wow, seems to be bad, good, bad, good, bad... guess ill continue with the good :P

Got new rear speakers installed in the eggvan on friday which was a pain but its something ive been meaning to to for quite some time now. And the best part is that it still looks totally factory. I finished the van up Sat morning since it started to rain on me friday evening. Yesterday I played video games for a good portion of the day then headed out to take care of my punch list for the daily driver. Had a headlight out and the blower motor was not working and Ive had this underseat powered sub that Ive been meaning to install (for some reason theres no good obvious penetrations of the firewall on the 87, so that had always held me back). The blower motor just needed a good whack to get going  so that was easy. Oh I had also lost low speed on the fan awhile back so I tackled that while i was in there. All the resistor elements are exposed on the resistor pack, so I just found some scrap copper and wound a new low coil and soldered that old boy together, hooray for low fan speed! Anyways I found a good spot to punch through the firewall and ran a good power and ground through and ended each cable in a small distribution block right under the radio in the center console, now if I need a good source of power or ground I dont have to go through the firewall again. Oh while I was under there I put a small wire through that will eventually control the fog lights that I installed and never wired up. Its just sitting there for now, but the rest of the wiring should be pretty easy.

So all in all a good weekend so far, and the weather today is looking to be absolutely wonderful. Hooray for drying out old sitting cars! (ive already been outside to crack windows)

Yah, yesterday was OK for me too.

Welded nonstop for 3 hours in an introductory class and at least now I know how to use the machine. Some of it started coming back. It started getting harder and harder to weld near the end but I found out that was most likely due to a bad ground and almost being out of gas. Stopped at a metal shop and bought some small pieces of metal & also stopped at my friend's workplace where they gave me some scrap to practice on (including an old set of headers that's been cut up.)

Today I just found a portable sand blaster on sale for $40. I'm going to get that, then go out to a friend's to watch the super bowl. He's providing wings and steak, so I said I'd bring beer and dessert.

Woot woot - looking through my folder of personal crap on the work computer today and found full factory repair and electrical manuals for a 1999 Lex is200

Can't remember when I would have downloaded them & I have no access to stuff from overseas markets, but this will making wiring the swap so much easier than dealing with all the other half accurate stuff I had accumulated previously.
On the downside, it confirmed my fear that the fuel level sensor won't work on an isXXX gauge cluster without some clever hackery.  The sensor goes to the Body ECU where it gets converted to a multiplex signal and sent to the cluster - same with the parking brake switch, except it goes to the AC control head before getting sent out on the same multiplex line

Ouch, sounds like that could be more complicated than it's really worth doing. It's probably something like a CAN bus signal, which I know extremely little about, except that you can get PICs that can duplicate them. My brother and I talked about it a little for his Focus dash (we both have done stuff with PICs before), but we ultimately decided it wasn't worth the time. Now I can't even remember what he wanted to do, TBH.

Pretty much, Multiplex is basically a slower type of CAN that only uses one wire.  The isXXX cluster will still give me speedo & tach, so I might try to junkyard a Body ECU from another model just to convert the fuel level signal
