Made a custom shift knob
« on: Sep 26, 2016, 05:50:41 pm »
I made a TEQ frame and sandwiched it between some stabilized burl and spalted maple.

I first designed the metal piece.

Had it 3D printed with the bands going vertical so that I could have a texture in the background of the TEQ.

Made a template for cutting out the wood.

Did some quick cuts

Started marking for trimming out the top to fit the TEQ snug.

Then sanding

More sanding

More sanding

More sanding

I wanted to darken it a bit more so added a stain.

Looking decent at this point.

Some lacquer on it

And then show cased in Frank's (RA65GTS) car.

I want somebody to do a beer tap with the teq logo. And make it so it can be a shift knob too.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Mmm Toyota Beer, wonder how it would taste. Something tells me with the current management it'd taste watered down :heh:
