So I was working on the Celica today and was all excited to try starting the engine with the new battery, I grab the starter cable and look for the terminal to hook it up... and... can't find the starter, lol. I guess it got left at the shop, so gotta go pick it up.

So instead I started working on the steering rack since I've had a bunch of components ready to be replaced for quite a while now.
Poly bushings from that group buy

And new boots and inner tie rods

Will those bushings also fit manual steering racks? I can get SuperPro poly steering rack bushings but it doesn't specify for one or the other type of rack, so can I assume it's compatible with both?

I believe they are different. I think the one on the passenger side is a lot smaller for the non-power assisted rack.

Correct. Hey, I'll trade twotone for his manual rack and then he can have poly bushings. Fair trade right?

Fair trade, yes, but I'll stick with my manual rack. Keeps the originality of the car and gives me an arm workout every time I drive her.

Which of these bushings is the passenger side bushing that won't fit the manual rack?

The left one is the passenger side, on the manual rack it's small like the right one, but the same shape as the left one. He wanted to do the trade with you because you can't buy the manual rack anymore. The only good thing about the power rack is quicker ratio. I bet if you get some better tires and change the scrub radius a little steering will be easier.

So big part is the IS350 engine sitting in the engine bay. Eventually the Celica will be a time attack car. It's part of the reason I went with the 2GR-FSE, I wanted [...] to work with Toyota's latest stuff.

And how old is that engine, now?

Sorry, I have to give you shit, I think you're the only person with a non-running Celica project older than mine :heh:

Haha, too friggen old! But funny enough it's still a current engine with Toyota since it's still very competitive.

I just haven't had time this past four weeks to work on the Celica, but I've been making progress nonetheless.

Lame, went to put the starter in and found out I have clearance issues... But it looks like once it's in it's not a problem, it's just navigating around the parts. So probably going to drop the crossmember.

Small updates.

Started putting together the LSD with the weir rebuild kit, new toyota pinion bearings and weir solid pinion spacer.

Also going to run a diff cooler. The carrier already has the cooler line added to it, just need to add the pick up line inside the axle housing.

And grabbed some OEM Lexus exhaust for when I start putting that together. One on the left is from a LS600h, the one on the right I thought was IS350, but on closer inspection it's from an IS-F :heh:

Still not sure what to do with these air jacks. I don't know what brand or model they are.

I didn't know diff coolers were even a thing.. that's kind of cool. Does it need an inline pump or is there some sort of fluid circulation engineered in already?

Yea, uses a small pump to circulate up into the oil cooler. There's actually a TRD diff cooler kit for the AE86s when they were new. From my understanding it's only used when you plan to do an endurance race to save the bearings and gears and from what I've read clutch type LSDs. I've also read of C5 guys toasting their diff on long track sessions longer than 30 minutes. Apparently the C6 GS package comes with a diff cooler.
